Organic growing courses 2014: fruit, vines and veg

If you’re looking for festive presents to give or looking to learn new skills in the new year, take a look at Organiclea’s courses for early 2014.

  1. Growing and looking after grape vines, Saturday 25th January

  2. Pruning and growing fruit trees and bushes, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March

  3. Gardening Level 1, 6 weeks starting Tuesday 25th February

Growing and looking after grape vines Saturday 25th January, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm at Hawkwood Nursery A one day course that will look at everything to do with growing grape vines, from their planting, and growth training, propagating new plants and specific pruning essentials.

This course is particularly suited to small scale urban growers. No previous experience is needed to join in.

The course is led by Marko Bojcun who has been growing vines and making wine in Northeast London for over 20 years. He is an experienced tutor and member of Organiclea.

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at Hawkwood Nursery The essentials of pruning and growing fruit trees and bushes: a weekend course for beginner and experienced gardeners who have (or would like) fruit trees and bushes and would like to know how to properly establish and maintain them.

Course fee: £120/ £80 / £40.  More information and booking.

Gardening Level 1

6 weeks starting Tuesday 25th February, 9.30-3.30 at Hawkwood Nursery This is a unique way of achieving an accredited gardening qualification through practical training in a community market garden and glasshouse combined with supported classroom-based learning and reflection. It is designed to build basic and technical skills for anyone who is thinking about working as a gardener or who wants to enhance your food production knowledge.
